FACELIFT

by qikit | 06:29 PM

Welcome to the outcome of testing the limits of my Photoshop and html language knowledge. I've changed the colour scheme and banner of my blog and also switched the tag board back to the old CBOX tag board. I think there is some script conflict going on with the templating codes and the cbox code, therefore resulting in the huge gaps between the window, the form and the links.

How does my banner and new colour scheme look? Tell me about it.

I appreciate constructive comments. Thanks.

DREAMS

by qikit | 12:21 AM

As long as you know it's not impossible to make it a reality

As long as you believe it will always be there for you

Anything that I can do I know that you can too

Don't you let anyone ever keep you from your dreams

You can do whatever you want

Don't ever turn away from your heart

So make a wish on heaven

The stars will send you in the right direction as long as you believe

Don't ever think you can't

Don't ever think you have

Don't ever reach the future that you have left

Don't ever say there's no hope for you tomorrow

When you control the dreams that you've always known

There's no better place than where you are

To reach for the sky

You'll have the stars

Whatever you want is available

Just don't be afraid to dream

Eventually it will come to you

You can have the stars, the moon

Anything you want if you believe

BACKSTAGE

by qikit | 11:31 PM

As much as I like being on stage acting, I am also greatly interested in backstage work. My involvement with the English Drama Team sparked a new interest in me. Apart from acting (which I never did) I am incharged of making props witht he help from the rest of the team and doing stage management ( How the props and backdrops should be brought in) Amazingly, our team is the only team (I guess) that do not have a Director. The whole team directs the whole Drama. It consists of 15 students. These fifteen students comprises of Actors, A Writer, An Editor, Directors, Backstage Crew. Nearly everyone has double roles. Now, let the pictures speak.

The Script which changes now and then. This is where I start on making my props.

A Gun that we totalled(damaged) during breaktime as a result of a game that we created. Its like a game of tag. We chase each other around with guns and loaded with rubber bullets. Childish but fun! We get our guns from the local hypermarket and spray them. This one here is halfway through its paint job.

Loads of newspaper for paint jobs, and stuffing bags and cleaning up.

Money! Yes we need money. We have a lot of money till we use it as notepad.

Just joking. This is fake money that I scanned and printed. I think I printed RM4,000 worth of fake RM50 notes.

Loads of duct tape. A very useful invention. Secures a lot of stuff from light stands to backdrops.

Fake Blood!!! My favourite and my trademark(sorta). This is my own concoction, BTW.

This is what we do when we get bored while waiting for the bus to our competition venue for rehearsal. We rob unsuspecting visitors at our school parking lot.

The unsuspecting visitor is non other than our teacher advisor Ms Ellina

The Stage with the old backdrop. Yeah this is the type of backdrop we use. Couldn't afford the drop down backdrops.

The New backdrop.

The foreign exchange board is my masterpiece.

Through all the hard work and last minute work we emerged State Champs. This picture was taken from the T-Shirt

This is how "selamba" we were during rehearsal at the competition venue.

Note the word "JOHAN" and the dust and the cobweb. Kept it under my bed.

My Trophy.

The Big trophy.

Questionable Motives : Everyone Has a Rent to Pay Trivia

-The script for the Preliminary, State and National Rounds are all different though the same storyline. With different scenes and different character names.

-The participants for the Preliminary, State and National Rounds are not all the same. For the National Round, Kevin and I  was replaced by Julius and Firdaus. Kevin had to go to Highland Park, Essex, UK for the International Scouts Jamboree while I stayed due to some personal problems.

- The Idea was spawned by the High School Psycho Killer - CHO

- Only had 2 weeks of practice before the Preliminary Round

More Trivia from Izzat

- Script was completed less then a week before competition

- The laptop kept screwing the first gunshot all the way till nationals so much so it became part of the script for the antagonist and protagonist

- an incident where the laptop really got screwy and restarted itself as the props were being arranged on stage

Images of the original drafts can be found on:
the-walk-that-lasts-a-lifetime.blogspot.com

All in all, it was a trully great and awesome experience. One word to end it -

Satisfied

COWARD

by qikit | 08:31 PM

Life is hard enough when there are no answers to questions. The journey for the answers depends on persistence, patience and a strong mind. The answer to my questions are right in front of me. Either I answered my questions correctly and have a celebration to the discovery of it or I answered my questions incorrectly and fail again but only to be stronger the next asessment.

Few weeks back, I sacrificed my time to fetch some kids back from their dates from thier partner's school so I dropped by to say hi to the people there. Recently I felt proud to be invited to my friend's school to observe a sport in practice and I saw some other people that I know there so, I said hi. My friend couldn't entertain me much as my friend had to help the team practice as I watched. Today morning when I was about to sit for an exam that I can be at my happiest, my superior asked me not to go to that school to disturb the people there. Particularly SJAM members. There has been complaints that I went to the school to disturb the members.

What the hell? Case No1. I was there to offer a lift. Case No2. My friend nicely asked me to watch them practice. So, does saying hi to people I know a big disturbance?

Thinking bout the possibilities of who this coward is, is quite heart wrenching. What the hell did I do wrong?

Tell me. Now I've been told that this school is infamous for the backstabbing and two faces. Who could it be?

I don't even want to comment on the gathering. So much for being supportive.

PISSED

by qikit | 02:54 AM

Though this matter maybe a month ago but looking at the participants of the recent Advanced First Aid course has pissed me off big time. I have waited for 2 years for this course. All the joy. In the end they said only 4 per division. We have so little adult divisions. How can 4 per division be overwhelming? Think again. This course is being treated more or less like a proficiency course. Yeah. You got that right. It means that cadets are entitled to participate. The previous time this course was organised, only Adult Members are allowed and only members of WPKL. This time they had members from other states. Come on. You can't even handle your own state, you bring in members from other state? What are they trying to prove?

Why are Cadets allowed? Shouldn't priority be given to Adult WPKL members first? Then Cadets? or Members from other states?

Though I must say that everyone should know these skills, still, the people who are likely and really have time and flexibility to serve are the Adult Members. In any case of disasters, can Cadets manage the situations?

Who are more capable of handling those situations? Adult member who has a good sense of safety and precaution? or a Cadet that knows AFA but couldnt take care of itself? It is debatable.

WPKL being splitted into two groups are a big pain in the ass. English and Chinese Group. What the hell? Why is it about language now? This is not some Non-Government Language Organisation. This is a NGO that help save lifes and its about First Aid. Don't be kids. Grow up.

The commitment I've seen from SJAM Penang for EMAS Penang is just overwhelming. They try every bit to improve their services for the better of mankind. What do SJAM WP do ? Being small kids and concentrating more on the less important issues.

It sucks to be here at times. But I have to live with it as I am a first aider and providing first aid is what I do.

=) blabbering here lightened me up!

COMPULSIVE

by qikit | 12:33 AM

I am seriously in need of a Hi-Visibility vest! and is a GP 338 really necessary? or shall I just go with TK3107 that is a pain but cheaper alternative?

I enjoy doing tactical work/activities.

BLOGROLL

by qikit | 03:41 AM

There are a lot of new blogs I that I want to add in my links, but I could not do it this moment as I have some problem with the templating script. I might have to change my whole layout so that all my other sidebar widgets can function. Stay tuned!

SPAGHETTI

by qikit | 03:29 AM

Second Recipe

Spaghetti in Tomato Squash

Utensils

1. Pot

2. Large frying pan or Wok

3. Wooden spatula (if you care for the pan)

4. Tongs/ Chopsticks

Ingredients

1. Extra Virgin Olive Oil or any cooking oil

2. Pitted Black Olives (optional)

3. 2 Fresh Tomatoes

4. Oregano Seasoning

5. Parmesan Cheese

6. 2 cloves of Garlic

7. 1-2 Onions

8. Spaghetti

9. Salt

10. Black Pepper

Cooking Directions

Peel off the garlic skin and the onion skin and chop off the top and bottom of the onion.

Finely chop the garlic and onion.

Place the tomatoes in the pot of boiling water for 5 minutes. This is to get rid of the skin easier.

Heat up the pan with extra virgin olive oil.

When the pan is heated, throw in all the chopped garlic and stir. As the garlic turns golden brown, toss in the chopped onions and continue stirring.

The tomato skin will shrink. The skin can now be removed easily. Bring the tomatoes to the pan and squeeze them in you hands or you could just cut and squash in on the chopping board then dump it in the pan. Just remeber to remove the core.

Add 1 tsp of salt in to the pot of water. Let it boil then add in the spaghetti.

The spaghetti should be done in 10 minutes. Take one strand to test if unsure. Remove from the pot using tongs or chopsticks.

You could add in olives if you want. Add 1 tbsp of tomato sauce and a dash of oregano sesoning in to the pan and stir and keep on squashing the chunky tomatoes. Place sauce on top of spaghetti top the sauce with as much parmesan cheese you like and food is served.

By the way, this sauce is not Neapolitan ragù ( The common red spaghetti sauce )

Ask me if there are any questions. Correct me if I am wrong. Let me know if I missed out anything.

ONION

by qikit | 11:55 AM

*edited*

I dished up something really nice yesterday and would like to share it with you people. And I gotta thank Kuan Ming for the inspiration through one of his pictures in his blog.

Onions in Spicy Tomato Sauce

Utensils

Frying Pan (I'm using a non-stick pan. So I don't need to oil my pan beforehand)

Wooden Spatula or the conventional spoon or tongs will do

Ingredients

2 onions cut in to strips

3 tbsp of tomato sauce

1 tbsp of chili sauce

1/2 tsp of hot sauce(tabasco)

3 pinches of black pepper

1 tbsp of soy sauce

1 tsp of sugar

2 tsp worth of butter

-garnishing is entirely up to you!

for me i've used strips of charred yellow bell pepper and shredded spring onion

Cooking directions

1. Throw in all the onions (layers individually separated)

2. Dump the butter in and stir fry for a minute

3. Add in tomato sauce, chili sauce, hot sauce, black pepper, sugar and soy sauce

4. Add 2tbs of water if you think its too dry.

5. Mix all the ingredients up and continue tossing the onions around for 2 minutes.

6.  Serve and enjoy!

There you go. My first recipe.
